An artist in the true sense of the word Is constantly looking for new way of expressing himself and his talents. He is striving to present in his unique way and view. images of his milieu for others to contemplate and look over. As time passes. those artists of merit are accepted and revered: such it is with Praxiteles, Michelangelo, and Picasso. Contemporary artists have a harder go at it, but some win a following albeit sometimes trendy and arduous as with Dali, Pollak, and Warhol.
But by far the greatest problem of an artist is being seen at all, and to this end most talented individuals spend (of necessity far too much time hunting recognition. So there are kinetic "book burnings" in Central Park, "running fences in the Marin Hills, and even "living crucifixions' all under the guise of art, but more likely as not for the recognition it may gain the artist.
Photography, being aligned with and handmaiden to those glamour industries of media, entertainment and fashion, has had its own difficulties in becoming accepted as a viable "art form" although its very nature of seeing and capturing instantly might be argued to be the purest art form. And so the photographer as artist must also fight this prejudice in gaining recognition within the art world.
Here at Sierra Domino we are dedicated to bringing to the world the artistic representation of natures highest created form---the human figure, particularly the black male human figure. And to this end we are excited to present the work of a new and fresh photographic artist, Alan Boone.
We could editorialize and criticise about the techniques, models, thematic treatments, etc. etc., but you, the viewer. are the ultimate critic: does it work for you?
