The writer James Salter served in the Air Force during World War II, in Korea, and after, and often uses his flying experiences in his fiction and memoirs, most notably in THE HUNTERS, his acclaimed novel about the Korean War. This is a collection of his writing on the experience of flying, drawing from that book as well as from CASSADA, his memoir BURNING THE DAYS, and other unpublished works, most notably a diary.
