“ It was a bad night for the bars. Mondays usually are anyway with everyone recovering from the weekend or saving up for the next- -but that one was particularly so.
The rain might have had a lot to do with it. What had begun as a light drizzle around five that afternoon was a torrent by midnight. Not that the rain held me back, but then I live just around the corner from the Hustler and there's a big difference between a short sprint through a flood like that and walking halfway to the docks in it.
I was starting to think about heading home. I can tell when a bar is bad and going to stay bad all night. After all, I've been around a lot. A lot! Listen to him! Two years! But then, when you think about it, two years of gay life in the Village is being around a lot. I mean, that's the size of it, let's face it.
Anyway, I was standing by the jukebox, nursing a beer, looking through the plate glass window at the river running past in the gutter, when this taxi pulled up. Now that's an occasion. You have to understand that most guys who come to the Hustler have trouble scraping up bus fare!"
Due to recent delivery issues with the USPS I now ship all magazines, digests and paperback books via Priority Mail. $100 of insurance is included in this price. I’m selling my collection of vintage 1950-1980s gay pulp paperback novels, pictorial & hardcore magazines, physique photography, magazines, artwork & other LGBTQ ephemera.
