The contrast between these pictures and the physique photos of a few years ago is quite astonishing.
In the old days muscles were everything, and in browsing through the old "heavies" of physique publications one tires of the constant staid repetition of rigid posed shots, all muscles tensed, and veins distended. The actual quality of the old muscle pictures was frequently quite good, but the posing was wooden, the models looking like statues, and invariably described as looking like a Greek God. Nobody has actually seen a Greek God so who's to argue?

EDITORIAL
We are more than pleased to include in this issue some of the work of a new British Studio, Great Western Studio. We think it is some of the most advanced physique photography available today.

Also in this issue are some of the newest releases from the more established studios.

Indeed we receive so much outstanding material these days that we hope to produce an enlarged edition of "Male Classics" about halfway through the year as a "special."
Incidentally, if you want something extra special you should see the "Male Classics" annual, now on sale at newstands, or direct from this office. It contains literally the best of physique photography over the last few years, and a large selection of pictures never before published in any magazine.
