*The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana (Laibach) in north eastern Yugoslavia, was occupied by the Italians in 1941. They erected a 19-mile barbed wire fence surrounding the city, cutting it off from the rest of the country. When the Italians surrendered in 1943 the Germans took over the occupation and administration of the Provence. The first postage issued under the Germans used Italian stamps overprinted with an eagle and "Provinz Laibach" in German and Slavic. In 1945 they issued a short-lived set printed for the occupied area. The area was liberated by a combination of Partisans and Soviet Forces in 1945.
Features Italian stamps overprinted or surcharged in black or color, scenes of Ljubljana, semi-postal stamps, air post, special delivery, air post special delivery, postage due stamps.
