Entitled "Country Crossroads", this M. J. Hummel collector plate is "a first edition porcelain collector plate from the M. I. Hummel collection entitled Little Companions". The fine china dish was created exclusively for the Danbury Mint, and comes with the certificate of authenticity and the white styrofoam box. The charming scene shows two classic Hummel kid figures, a girl and boy figurine, making a direction choice at the road crossing. The artist name, M. J. Hummel, is printed on the front of the dish. According to the COA, the outer rim is "trimmed in 23kt gold". The back of the plate says "M.I. Hummel is a trademark of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in connection with its products including Hummel figurines".
The plate measures about 8 1/8 inches across. The plate is numbered MI3457 on the back and says "An edition limited to 14 full firing days". This plate was licensed by ARS AG, Zug, Switzerland. It is "Not for food use".It is in excellent condition. The white Styrofoam box is also in very good vintage used condition, with the plate name and artist name hand written in ink on the box and a few small dings and creases and a little dirt on the box from being packed away. The certificate has the original registered owner's name printed on it and slight creases where the plate was sitting on it inside the box all these years.
