This item is a rare and vintage ROBERT FRAUM publication from 1977 titled THE WESTERN SCENE Vol.1 No.1 featuring pulp and photo pictorials culled from several 1977 8mm film loops in "HOW THE WEST WAS ONE" Collection out of MUSTANG STUDIOS starring STEVE PARKER, ED PARSONS and BILL. "Rough and tumble bunkhouse buddies filled many lonely nights with Wild West action! It wasn't called square dancin' but it was one helluva ball!" This magazine was produced in 1977.
—INTRODUCTION—
“Over the past few decades, the historical concept of the Western hero has gone through a series of revisions.
From a kind of generalized symbol of mythic proportions of a man, pure and noble, fighting the wilderness and the bad guys with equal vigor, and loving only his horse, we have come to see the settlers of our vast western lands as far more human-experiencing the same problems and feelings common to all people. In the field of gay literature the Loon Trilogy did much to remind us of a few obvious but forgotten facts regarding those early days, including the fact that these men had human sexual needs and they found outlets for them in a variety of ways within the possibilities of their world. The Western Scene visits bunkhouses and barns, tack rooms and stables, mountainsides and grazing lands with humor and insight recalling what some pioneers did for pleasure and fulfillment in a land where loneliness was one's closest companion.."
