Description: Victorian Trade Card - CHOCOLAT-LOUIT - Louit Freres & Co., Bordeaux, France
Artistic vintage French advertising card for Chocolat-Louit based on a painting by Gustave Courbet entitled "LA REMISE AUX CHEVREUILS". It depicts three deer hanging out by a rocky stream in a forest, with what appears to be a waterfall in the background.
The back is covered with typical advertising (in French, of course) for the product.
Size: approx. 3.125" x 4" (trimmed)
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Camis, Paris
Condition: Fair, I'd say. This card is only lightly soiled on the front, with some light glue staining and residue on the back. However, both the left and right borders have been trimmed, probably by about 1/4" each. (Please see scans.)
