CHOCOLAT POULAIN Victorian Trade Card w/ Fabric Inserts - boy & girl w/ parasol
Description: Embossed Victorian Trade Card w/ Fabric Inserts - CHOCOLAT POULAIN
Interesting and colorful French advertising card depicting a boy leaning on a fence rail while talking to a girl in a white dress holding a parasol. She also appears to be holding the boy's hat and a red flower. At the bottom right is a caption that appears to read "Déposé".
The back has typical advertising (in French, of course) for the product.
What I find particularly interesting about this card is that it is layered, like a sandwich. The boy's red pants and the girl's white dress are actually pieces of thin fabric layered between the front and back of the card. Those sections of the front of the card are die-cut to reveal the fabric.
Size: approx. 4.375 x 3.125"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Not identified.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The card is mildly warped, with slightly worn edges. There's also a small crinkle in the top edge and a mild horizontal crease across the middle. The front is only lightly soiled, while the back has some light glue staining and a few remnants of hard brown glue near the center. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
