This item is a rare and vintage LAGUNA PACIFIC publication titled DOUBLE DONATION #1 which features photography from the 1981 WILLIAM HIGGINS motion picture "BOYS OF SAN FRANCISCO" starring JEFF BYRON, ANDY HATHAWAY and SKIP LEWIS. This magazine was personally photographed by William Higgins.
“Jeff Byron is getting sucked by his roommate as he reads the paper when a guy comes to the door asking for signatures to “Save the Whales Society”. Jeff answers the door wearing an open robe and his erection and the poor guy can barely speak, but gets invited in. His clothes are removed in short order and then they are in a circle jerk before Mr. Whales is trying to suck his two hosts. Jeff and Tod trade fucks until Whales climbs between them to get double fucked. He gets two donations on his face before he jerks off himself. (Names can’t be assigned to performers, other than Jeff.) The original film loop credited Jeff Byron and Andy Hathaway. It is oversized at 8-1/2” x 11” and is still in UNREAD condition. This item is DEADSTOCK and the original distributor never sold it; it has been in storage for over 40 years.
Anyone familiar with gay porn during the late 70s and early 80s will immediately recognize the phrase "In the William Higgins Tradition..."
While it doesn't really mean anything, it does sound marvelously grand. His films codified the "California aesthetic--called the "William Higgins tradition" in promotional box covers--of slender twinks, generally blond young men in the outdoors, hiking, surfing the Pacific Coast Highway, at rodeos, or on the beach. He launched the careers of a whole new generation of major porn stars in the 1980's--among them Kip Noll ( also know as Kip Knoll ), Leo Ford, Lance. J. W. King, Jon King, Derrick Stanton, John Davenport, Jeff Quinn, and Kevin Williams.
Gay men have always fetishized masculinity and seen straight guys as real guys. A large percentage of gay men see heterosexual men as more masculine than gay men. According to Higgins, gay men want to see straight guys but imagine them as gay, which is partly why 90 percent of the men he uses in his films are heterosexuals, or at least "that's what they like to call themselves. Higgins also likes to recruit men who have typically never done porn or had sex with men before and market their inexperience as an asset, not a drawback. To this day, he enjoys filming the first-timers, especially if they don't really like it. He zooms in on their faces clenched in pain. It makes it real, Higgins says.
