Signed "VISERO" (VIcente Figure RObles).On the back it bears an unfinished painting.Part of a large collection of Spanish paintings we recently purchased.Biography of the painter:Vicente Segura (1930-2015), was born in Nador in Spanish Morocco into a family of artists, he was in fact the grandson of the painters Augustin and Enrique, the latter particularly known for his career as a portraitist of Francisco Franco (biography available on Wikipedia). From 1944 to 1947 he worked in the studio of the master Mariano Bertuchi, a Spanish painter active mainly in Morocco. In 1948 he moved to Madrid to continue his pictorial training and entered the Real Academia de Bellas Artes in St Fernando where he was a pupil of José Manaut Viglietti, in turn a disciple of Joaquín Sorolla at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de St Carlos in Valencia . Like many Spanish painters of his time, in its production Sorolla's influence is evident and the orientalist theme is also recurrent due to his origins. From 1944 to 1947 he worked in the Mariano Bertuchi's studio in Morocco. In 1948 he moved to Madrid to study at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes di St Fernando where he studied under José Manaut Viglietti. He was influenced by Joaquín Sorolla and due to his origins by the orientalist movement. He worked for all his life in Madrid. He died in 2015.
