Realized with the "freezing technique" to obtain the crystallized effect in some areas of the pictorial surface, this technique consisted in placing the still fresh painting in the real cold and then working it later. This technique was created by the painter Pancaldi in the early 1960's and refined throughout his career until reaching the extraordinary results of the paintings of the 80s and 90s. The representation of nature and daily life were among the favorite subjects of the artist who was very active and well-known in the Modena area because of his activity as graphic poster artist for the Communist Party of Modena and the numerous exhibitions held. The contrast is dramatic, the effect impressive though more technical and, so to speak, forced.Pancaldi real inspiration is the lost world of processions and threshing, of the stables and threshing floors shining with golden chaff, of the chicks that follow the broods along the rows torn by the effort of the spade and hoe.
