VINTAGE PAINTING Work of Maestro Gaetano Pancaldi (1922-2014) Piumazzo of Castelfranco Emilia (Modena) DESCRIPTION Subject: seen from the window of the painter's studio in winter with snow-covered roofs. Support and material: watercolor on cardboard. Realized with the "freezing technique" to obtain the ice effect in some areas of the pictorial surface, this technique consisted in placing the still fresh painting in the real cold and then working it later. This effect was invented by the painter Pancaldi and has recurred in many of his works since 1960's . Author: Gaetano Pancaldi (Piumazzo of Castelfranco Emilia, 1922-2014). There representation of nature and life quotidiana were among the favorite subjects of the artist who has been very active and known in Modena because of his activity as a poster designer and annexand numerous exhibitions created. Tireless painter, Pancaldi worked until the last years with unchanged passion.
