Victorian Trade Card - Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company - "A MATCH FOR TWO -- OR MORE" (#77)
SERIES: Birds and Miscellany
This is one of a series of 50 cards issued by Arbuckles', probably in the late 1880's, depicting birds (#51-#69) and other miscellaneous subjects (#70-#100), and advertising their "Ariosa" coffee.
This one shows a mischievous young boy dressed in his winter clothes and boots, and preparing to throw a giant snowball at some unseen target. His red scarf is blowing in the wind and his hat is falling off, while his dog is happily watching from a safe distance.
The back shows the familiar Arbuckles' factory scene with buildings, dock, railroad cars, and a ship.
SIZE: 5" x 3"
DATE: Not dated, but likely late 1880s
LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified
CONDITION: Good to very good, I'd say. This card is somewhat soiled in spots, with slightly worn edges and corners. There's a very tiny tear in the right margin. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
