•In 1932 Walt and brother Roy Disney contacted Kay Kamen in Racine Wisconsin whom owned Whitman Publishing.
•Walt and Roy Disney run the idea of the first major motion animated film past Kay Kamen, that being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and he loves the idea!
Kay Kamen being a visionary, decides to take out his life savings, sows it into his coat, rides a train for two days and dumps it on the Disney brothers desk so he can be a part of the future business's success.
•Walt Disney in return for saving the fledgling Disney company gives the first rendering of the characters to Mr. Kaymen for use with all material publishings.
•Kay Kamen saves the Disney studios from going bankrupt and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first ever animated movie begins production in 1934.
• Walt Disney personally approved this conceptual art work as the master design for promotional materials and the characters unique styles then used for the film.
•In 1937 Kay Kamens company, Whitman Publishing releases Disney's copyright protected paper dolls along with other books and marketing memorabilia. Kay Kamen published the exact same character designs used in the Disney movie and that of the presented art work for sale.
•1938 Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is released through RCA, grossing the most of any movie to that date.
•Present day- No other initial renderings exist such as the art shown, and the paper dolls are virtually nonexistent do to children playing with them over the decades, aside from this property at hand.
•Medium used- Fountain pen ink on silk fabric 19 1/2inches across by 18inches in height, hand stitched onto a cardboard back that has a 1917 yacht blueprint on it from MIT graduate and Naval Architect John G. Alden.
Dated and signed with two different signatures.
This extremely rare artwork conveys a story of one man's imagination, passion, and perseverance that gave birth to a world wide phenomena of success called the Disney Company. This is truly one of a kind.
