Vintage WWII German military Nazi wound award badge with the factory mark L/56 on the hollow back. This Nazi Germany wound medal is made of metal (maybe steel?) and shows a soldier’s helmet over two crossed swords with the swastika emblem on the helmet. A wreath of laurels is around the front edges of the oval pin, and there is a bow at the bottom. The background on the front has bumps like pebbles. The World War II badge measures about 1 ½” wide by about 1 ¾” tall. The detailing on this historical artifact showing the military helmet, swords, swastika, and wreath are all raised, providing interesting texture to the medal.
This World War II Nazi German badge has some overall rust and looks almost brown in color. The badge was probably used, and the photographs show the condition close-up for you to review. NOTE the hook pin closure on the back of the badge, which is a brighter and shinier brass-colored metal (maybe painted – not sure?) than the rest of the badge. I showed some close-up photos for you to look at the pin closure. I think this closure is original to the pin (?), but I will point it out for you to decide, because I do not know if this has been repaired or replaced? It is being sold “As Is” with all of the above pointed out to you.
