  • Description
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Holiday Inn of Toledo, located on Route 120 at No. 5 interchange of the Ohio Turnpike in Perrysburg, Ohio. The outside has a fairly common Holiday Inn design in yellow, showing the giant sign and "THE HOLIDAY INNKEEPER", "YOUR HOST FROM COAST TO COAST", "LET US TELETYPE AHEAD FREE... FOR YOUR NEXT Holiday Inn RESERVATION".

The inside carries the location information and states that the "Cocktail Lounge NOW open".

Produced by Universal Match Corp., Memphis

Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)

Date: Not dated, but the use of a teletype for reservations probably places it in the 1950s, or perhaps early 1960s.

Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is just lightly soiled, but the yellow background on the front portion of the outside appears to be slightly faded. The striker strip doesn't appear to show any actual use, but there's a bit of damage to the striker strip area from the removal of the staple that held the matches. There's also an additional pinhole which passes through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
