Victorian Trade Card - COWPERTHWAITS' HOME FURNISHERS & INTERIOR DECORATORS, New York & Brooklyn

Very attractive card depicting one side of a larger 3-panel screen offered by Cowperthwaits for 9 cents in postage. Two panels show women doing chores, one in a wheat field carrying a jug and with a sickle attached to her belt, and the other carrying what appears to be an empty water bucket. The middle panel shows a young girl on a swing.

The top two-thirds of the back carries a copy of a letter from the lithographer, Donaldson Brothers, to Cowperthwaits, extolling the virtues of the larger panel that they are printing, while the bottom third is Cowperthwaits explanation of how to get the panel and how you could decorate with it.

Condition: Excellent, I'd say. The card is very clean, with just a couple faint pencil notations on the back, in the right margin. The edges and corners show virtually no wear. (Please see scans.)
