TATMAN Silver - Chicago & Evanston, Illinois -1950s(?) Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from TATMAN, "Famous For Silver", with stores on Michigan Ave. in Chicago, and Orrington Ave. in Evanston, Illinois. The stores' phone numbers are given in the old style of "SUPERIOR 7-6329" and "DAVIS 8-3535"..
There's no printing on the inside.
Produced by The Diamond Match Co., Chicago, Ill.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but those old-style phone numbers probably puts in the 1950s, or perhaps earlier 1960s.
Condition: Good, I'd say. My scanner seems to have difficulty with the shiny silver cover, but it does have some light scuffing / scratching. The striker strip is an odd whitish color and has a pebbled surface. There's some slight damage to the striker strip area from removal of the staple that originally held the matches, and there's an additional set of staple holes which through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
