TREADWAY INNS - Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Vermont, Connecticut - Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's an interesting vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from Treadway Inns, a motel chain offering "Good Food, Drink and Lodging in Old New England, New York State and Florida". The front has a drawing of a traditional lamp lighter.
The inside lists the chain's locations in Florida (Vero Beach), New York (Rochester, Cooperstown), Massachusetts (Cape Cod, Amherst, Andover, Framingham, Sturbridge, Williamstown, Winchendon), Vermont (Rutland) and Connecticut (Norwalk). The Connecticut location was due to open in "Early 1957".
Produced by the Diamond Match Co., Springfield, Mass.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Probably about 1956, since it precedes the opening of the Norwalk, Connecticut, location in early 1957.
Condition: Just good, I'd say. The cover is a bit soiled, there's a horizontal crease across the front, and the striker strip has been well used. There's also some damage to the striker strip area, likely from the removal of the staple that held the matches, along with an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
