It looks at Dean's life through the use of still photographs with narration and interviews with many of the people involved in his very short life. Interviewees include the aunt and uncle, who raised him after his mother's death (when he was 9), his fraternal grandparents and also with other people in his life, including the owner of his favorite restaurant. His father on the other hand, who was alive when this film was made, was not mentioned.
