A discussion of Boston architecture from the Federalist work of Charles Bulfinch to the arrival of the steel frome and the influence of the Chicago School. An account of the important architects and buildings, discussion of the impant on architecture of changes in building materials, of certain economic forces and of ideas from abroad and a description of the typical social activities centering around important buildings.

The cloth hardcover binding measures 9 1/2" x 6 3/8" approximately 5/8" thick with a sound binding, clean covers, and clean paper within. The dust jacket shows some wear including a couple of tears on the front side.
