DÃœRER 1980 Catalogue Seibu Museum of Art Asahi Shimbun Japanese Paperback
Offered is a catalog from a showing of works in 1980 at The Seibu Museum of Art, The Asahi Shimbun in Japan calledDÃœRER. Paperbound, the front illustrated with the title overlaid in white, German text. the spine has Japanese text, the back is brown and is not decorated. The book is written in Japanese, and so I am limited about what I can say, though the images have titles in both Japanese and German, there is a reference to the publication, in English, at the bottom of one of the last pages. Approximately 10" x 9 5/8" with 200 numbered illustrations and a foreword, an introduction with other, unnumbered illustrations, and some follow-up materials which appear to be notes and credits in Japanese. Likely about 200 pages, plus or minus.
Normally I wouldn't list a book damaged like this one, but decided to list this one because I believe that it is probably rare and might fall into to hands of someone who will treasure, perhaps even restore it. The binding of this book is not sound, though as far as I can tell all of the pages are present; the binding was glued, and in places this glue has dried out and some of the pages come loose. The edges and corners of this book are worn, especially the cover where the spine is beat up and the corners are curling out. The cover has some scratches/dents, and the back is faded and rubbed, and has some ink or paint on it. There is pricing in pencil on the first page and some hashes made on the edge of the page where Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg's image is; this appears to be the result of someone's work running off the edge of paper and onto the book. Please take all of these things into consideration prior to bidding.
Let me know if you have any question, and thanks for considering this catalogue!
