Offered is a hard covered coffee table book, in French, called LES MERVEILLES DU LOUVRE, a beautifully illustrated volume housed in a heavy slip case; essentially a catalog covering some of the holdings found at Paris' famous museum. Brown cloth covers the boards and spine, the spine has a floating board incorporated. The front and spine are decorated with gilt text, the front has additional embossing. The book comes in a heavy cardboard slip case, illustrated on the outside front with text on the back and spine - as with the book, all text in French. Approximately 1 9/16" x 10" x 12 7/8" at the outside of the box, 311 numbered pages, color and black and white photography.

There are a few things the buyer has to know: This book came from the hold of a boat, and it smells a little musty; I see no mildew. The book seems structurally sound, the binding is strong and the pages are clean. The spine is faded, and the gilt worn practically away. The slip case is a little banged up with wear on the corners and edges, and a little in other places. The case paper's surface is scratched and dented in places.
