On one side of the mug it reads: I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me.
On the other side of the mug it reads: REMEMBER only you can help you.
And so you know... Stuart Smalley is a fictional character invented and performed by Al Franken. The character originated on the television show Saturday Night Live, in a mock self-help show called "Daily Affirmations With Stuart Smalley."
The character was a spoof on individuals who are obsessed with twelve-step programs and become addicted to the actual act of going to therapy for addiction. Stuart is a member of many (sometimes fictional) twelve-step groups, including Overeaters Anonymous, Children of Alcoholic Parents Anonymous, and Children of Rageaholic Parents Anonymous. He is an effeminate man with a perfectly coiffed bleached-blond hairdo, who regularly wears a yellow button down shirt with a powder blue cardigan.
