In 1940, this was the book to own when you received your first puppy. The publisher said, "This book tells you how to choose and care for your dog- and actually enjoy making him into an accomplished canine gentleman."
William Cary Duncan (1874-1945) was the dog editor of Outdoor Life, director of the American Kennel Club, breeder of setters, and lifelong trainer and sportsman.
This vintage book from 1940 shows age but very little wear. No dog ears or tears of pages. Owner name inside cover. Without dust jacket. A few light tan spots on page block and a few pages. Pages are unmarked and flexible. Cover boards are a bit faded with minor soil, and spine is slightly faded.
As far as I can tell, this is a first edition. I have included a pictureof the copyright page.
