Victorian Trade Card - Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company - Naval Officers Taking Smoking Break
SERIES: Miscellany - Unnumbered (aka: General Subjects, General Interest, Artistic, etc.)
This is one of 100 miscellaneous unnumbered cards advertising the "Ariosa" brand of coffee that Arbuckles' issued in the late 1880s. This one features a couple of nattily attired naval officers (swords and all) enjoying a smoke by the deck rail of their ship.
The back carries Arbuckles' familiar "4 Points" sales pitch.
SIZE: 5" x 3"
DATE: Undated (but probably 1888 or 1889)
LITHOGRAPHER: Geo. S. Harris & Sons
CONDITION: Fine, I'd say. This card is is just slightly dirty along the left edge (mostly noticeable at the upper left corner) with only slightly worn edges and corners. There are no creases or tears. (Please see scans.)
