Antique Treadle Sewing Machine Drawer s
1156 These old treadle sewing machine drawers have become very popular in the Interior Design market as stand alone display pieces to hold knick knacks & such. When we come across an interesting one we like to grab it.
The reason THIS one is so wonderful is that A) it comes with its' original housing......(I mention this because some people just "stack" drawers on top of each other in the pictures and you don't realize they don't have their original housing). THIS piece IS in its' original housing). and B) it has its' ORIGINAL brass backplates and ONE has it's original brass handle but the OTHER is missing its' brass handle.
It's Not "perfect" (see the many high resolution pictures). The paint is chippy and could use a good cleaning OR repainting. But that's all part of the charm of these old pieces.
This set has wonderfuly chippy white paint ALMOST all the way around. The side that was once connected to the sewing machine is partially unpainted (but you COULD paint it to blend if you wanted to) and while it has BOTH original brass Backplates, ONE of the little brass handles is missing. The drawers are inter-changeable so you can put the one with the handle on the top if you want.
This piece measures 10" tall......14 1/8" long front to back & 4 1/2" wide side to side. The drawers appear to be original and are a perfect match in both design and patina, but they're a few inches shorter than the housing. They measure 10 7/8" in length (while the length of the housing itself is 14 1/8".
