  • Description
Here's a very interesting cartophilic and philatelic item all rolled into one. This very attractive postcard featuring the Shoreham Hotel bears a single copy of the 1¢ Yosemite National Park stamp (Sc. #740) which was officially issued on July 16, 1934, at Yosemite in California. However, this card was postmarked on that date in Washington, D.C., at the Benjamin Franklin Station, making it an unofficial First Day Cover.

The name of the card publisher is obscured by the stamp, but, since it was published in Chicago, and carries a code number of "0A3725" in the margin on the front, it is likely a Curt Teich card originally published in 1930.

Size: approx. 5½" x 3½"

Date: Postmarked July 16, 1934 but probably published by Curt Teich in 1930.

Condition: Very good, I'd say. It's obviously been postally used but is only lightly soiled. It does appear that another stamp was first applied to the card, then pulled off before the Yosemite stamp was stuck on and the postmark applied, as there's a small remnant of the first stamp underneath the Yosemite stamp and the postmark. (Please see scans.)

MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 covers or cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 covers, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional covers.
