1939 VIEWS of the New York WORLD'S FAIR - 32-page Illustrated Booklet
Description: Absolutely stunning 1939 booklet entitled "VIEWS OF THE NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR". Consists of 32 illustrated pages (plus covers) featuring artist depictions of many of the art deco buildings and sculptures that were part of the exposition. All but 2 of the 32 pages are filled with these brightly colored drawings and I've included a sampling of them in the images shown above. (Click on each thumbnail to view it, then click the larger image to enlarge it even more.) Each drawing is accompanied by a brief description and, in some cases, identification of the architect(s) responsible for the building. (Unfortunately, the artists who did the illustrations don't seem to be identified.)
The structures depicted are: New York City Building, Bridge of Wings, Glass Center Building, Gas Exhibits Building, Food Building Number Three, Electrical Products Building, American Telephone and Telegraph Company Exhibit Building, Aviation Building, Food Building Number Two, Hall of Metals, Business Systems and Insurance Building -- Rose Court, Radio Corporation of America Exhibit Building, Cosmetics Building, Administration Building, Transportation Building -- Rocket Port, Hall of Fashion, Trylon and Perisphere, Westinghouse Electric Building, "Speed" (statue), "Riders of the Elements" (statue), Corona Gate North, New York State Exhibit Building and Fountain Lake Amphitheatre, General Motors Exhibit Building, Men's Apparel Quality Guild Exhibit Building, Railroad Building, Parachute Jump (thrill ride), Bridge of Tomorrow, World's Fair Music Hall, The Sealtest Building, and Section of the Court of States.
The booklet was lithographed by The Grinnell Lithographic Co., Inc., New York City
Actual Size: 32 pages (plus covers); approx. 8½" x 11½"
Copyright: 1939 by The Exposition Souvenir Corp., Corona, Long Island
Condition: Excellent, I'd say. There's some slight edge wear and light soiling on the covers, a small diagonal crease across the lower right corner of the front cover, and a few small scuffs on the back cover. Otherwise, the booklet is like new, with bright, fresh colors. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
