White Butterfly Ginger (ginger lily),Hedychium coronarium - Zone 7 - 11- is a tropical perennial and a cousin of culinary ginger, and is considered one of the most attractive of all gingers. It's definitely one of the easiest to grow. Grows best in semi-shaded areas but can live well in full sun if given continual moist soil. Can be grown directly in standing water such as your pond .From midsummer through autumn, it bears clusters of snow white 6-12 in. long clusters of wonderfully fragrant white flowers that look like butterflies, are good for cutting, and attract butterflies and honey bees.
