This sale is for five-hundred (500) seeds of the Pindo Palm (Butia capitata). The Pindo Palm is native to Brazil,Argentina and Uruguay and is one of the hardiest of the pinnate (feather-like) palms. It is also commonly known as the "Jelly Palm" as the fruit is used for making preserves and wine. It is dependably cold hardy here in central South Carolina and is grown in areas much farther North with little or no protection. My seed producing specimens are over 20 feet tall and have survived 20-30 winters with no damage. Seeds are precleaned and were harvested in summer and fall of 2010. Shipping is free to U.S. mainland only.
