The Traveling Salesman - This Book Tells You How to Earn Some Easy Money and Valuable Premiums in Your Spare Time, no copyright date [estimate circa 1915], 4x9, 23 pgs, black/white illustrations, stapled at spine, Maxwell-Edwards Co, Chicago, IL. This original catalog features premiums that could be earned by selling boxes of candy. There were 40 different boxes of candy priced from 10 to 65 cents, each box decorated with a pretty woman or child, floral spray or outdoor scene (all boxes are illustrated herein). Premiums include a Buster Brown camera, combination crucifix candelabra, a tin bread and cake cabinet, tin canister set, roller skates, glassware, Whiting & Davis mesh bag, lamps, etc. 23 premiums are described and illustrated, any one of which could be chosen as a reward for selling the 40 boxes of candy. The red page has tiny tabs that could be pulled off, supposedly as purchase receipts (one tab has been removed at the top - it was present when I took the photo but has since fallen out).
Condition: Only fair condition with a chunk missing at lower spine, well-thumbed, rear cover soil, color from the red paper has rubbed onto facing page, one tab missing from red sheet - contents are otherwise complete and legible.
