Omar Rayo Op Art signed H/C titled Clandestine Game print Hors Commerce
This is an Omar Rayo Op Art signed H/C titled Clandestine Game Hors Commerce. It is I believe in the original frame measuring about 22 inches wide by 24 3/4 inches tall. The frame is in poor to fair used condition with some small dents and scratches overall. The piece looks great, and is surely a great investment. His bio is below, a well known listed artist.
The designation HC stands for Hors Commerce. These are prints pulled with the main edition but are not numbered with it. They are used for commercial purposes such as entering shows or advertising. They are normally not sold.
Omar Rayo was born on January 20, 1928 in Roldanillo and died June 7, 2010. His first work was embodied in the shadow of a dog that was projected in his room using charcoal. That marked the first contact with white and black, colors which then dominated his works. He began in his teens, thanks to a notice announcing a correspondence course in drawing Zaer Academy of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
From 1948, Rayo began presenting his works at exhibitions and he won the National Salon of Artists of Colombia and a special prize at the First Latin American Print Biennial, San Juan Puerto Rico, in 1970.
From 1959 to 1960 he lived in Mexico, thanks to a grant from the Organization of American States (OAS) and then with another grant was in New York City, where he settled until 1976 and where he had an apartment where he lived much of the year.
In 1981 he founded the Omar Rayo Latin American Drawing and Engraving Museum, which he also led. His work was focused on geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles and lines with colors.
Most of his remaining works are in his museum.
No additional fees of any kind beyond the initial purchase price.
