SERIES: Birds and Miscellany

This is one of a series of 50 cards issued by Arbuckles', probably in the late 1880's, depicting birds (#51-#69) and other miscellaneous subjects (#70-#100), and advertising their "Ariosa" coffee.

This one shows an old woman and a girl at the door of a house behind a big snow drift, perhaps around Christmas time. The woman is gesturing as if to welcome someone in and the girl is standing behind her holding up what appears to be a sprig of holly or mistletoe.

The back carries Arbuckles' familiar "4 Points" sales pitch.

SIZE: 3" x 5"

DATE: Not dated, but likely late 1880s

LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified

CONDITION: Good to very good, I'd say. The card is only lightly soiled with just slightly worn edges and corners. There's a small tear in the top edge, just above the old woman's head, and the back has a small patch of surface paper loss. (Please see scans.)
