For sale is a red and black lacquer musical jewelry box in shape of piano and standing on three turned wood legs. It has Asian painted motifs on top and sides of mountains, pagoda, lakes and trees. The inside is covered in a red lining and there is a mirror on the inside of the lid. There is an inside compartment with red tassels on the cover and holds other jewelry. When the lid is opened a ballerina with gold painted hair & bodice and red polka-dotted white cloth skirt pops up. It is supposed to play music but the screw to turn the music box has been stripped. The music box could possibly be replace. It was made in Japan from 1940s and has a lock and key. There is an additional keyboard compartment on outside.
This jewelry box is in great shape but does have a couple of chips in the lacquer on the back edge and one on the side. The legs screw off for shipping. Please ask any questions before purchasing.
