This is a small display box that says Pearl on the front in Red, with some Japanese writing underneath it. Then, also on the front and underneath that stuff, it says "MIEKEN JAPAN PEARL SAMPLE A FACTORY". The bottom of the main part has a small rip in it, which could be glued together. The cover, also has a rip on two of the four corners. Otherwise this is used, but in good condition.
The inside of the cover, explains what they are, has a diagram showing how they labeled them, and also has it written in Japanese. The top one is labeled A, the 3 Pearls in a row are labeled B, the shell of the oyster on the bottom is labeled C, and the pearl inside the bottom oyster shell is labeled D.
"A. About the four-months-old young shell of the mother-of-pearl. (Pearl Oyster - the popular name) About the one year old shell is called the young shell.
B. The real pearl invented by Mikimoto, pearl King (Made in the muscle of the mother-of-pearl.).
C. The mother-of-pearl.
About the two-years-old shell shall be called the grown up shell. Pearl is made in the muscle of this shell by irritation.
D. Semi-circle made by attaching itself to the mother-of-shell. Only these pearls were produced and the good real spherical ones present were not before."
