Offered is a fabulous, hard to find antique majolica fan plate circa 1818-1883.
This plate was made in the Schramberg majolica factory opened and owned by Isidore Faist in 1818. He owned and operated the factory until 1883 when it was sold to Villeroy & Boch.
The plate you see is marked only with the number "7" and an impressed starburst. I have added the back mark from another plate which helps to trace the origin.
In photo 8 you see the same starburst, an "F" for Faist and V&B/S in a circle. That is the 1883-1895 Villeroy & Boch makersmark for the Schramberg majolica factory.
This beautiful antique majolica plate features a lovely ladies fan with a tassel. Under that is a tree branch with pink flowers and green leaves, a cherry tree branch perhaps. the border is finished off with an almost greek key style in brown.
I believe this plate was used as a decorative piece as I see no utensil marks. It has a high gloss glaze and the colors are deep and rich!! Just a beautiful piece of antique majolica!
It measures almost 8 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks! Add this wonderful must have to your antique majolica collection today!!
