Eight years ago, while searching my families genealogy, I found my grandaddy had been written up as running for Constable of Belton, Texas. During my research, I discovered that hundreds of our kinfolks lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf. Since then, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western kinfolks. See index below. I hope you appreciate the effort On all multiple items after the first, you will receive a 10% discount.Postage will be combined and refund granted if saved. THE GREAT DINOSAUR WAR by PAUL C. Here is a really strange one I found entitled “The Great Dinosaur War” by Paul C. Day who recites the history of the differences of Yale Professor Othniel Charles Marsh and Quaker Edward Drinker Cope and their explorations in such places as the Judith River Basin of Montana. For 12 years they fought over bones and fossils and minerals in the Dakotas, Colorado, Kansas, Montana and Wyoming. Cope found a treasure trove of dinosaur, including Triceratops and Trachodons. This is just a hoot to read of the way these two scientific warriors planted bones and bribed others to hide what they found. Here is just one funny story. Crow Indians were watching Cope’s camp when Cope removed his false teeth and began scrubbing them. Whereupon the Indians rode into camp and asked Cope to do the magic trick with his teeth again. Thereafter, every morning the Indians would gather and see the “Magic Teeth” trick. Cope had no problems with the Indians. There are fantastic tales of the exploration and digs including Marsh’s spectacular discoveries at Como Bluff in 1889. Professor Marsh even went so far as to instruct his crews to dynamite fossils rather than let them fall into Cope’s hands. These two guys really went after it and it’s all recited here. You will love it. I don’t have the space to relate the stories nor do I want to spoil it. It’s great. You have not seen it before because it is in the out of the way western magazine of many years ago. This issue is in remarkable condition with vibrant color cover. My wife says that after I find and buy this, read it, research it, write about it, scan it, pay the eCRATER fee and commission, I make about 50 cents and hour.
