UP FOR SALE IS A VERY OLD OBW (Original Bank Wrapped) ROLL. This roll is sealed and contains a 1909 Indian Head Cent on one end that looks like it would grade as Very Fine to possibly Extremely Fine and a 1909 Indian Head Cent on the other end that looks like it would grade as Very Fine! This would be quite an amazing roll if both or even just one of these coins had an "S" mint mark on the reverse! Even if not, this coin is still somewhat valuable as it was the last year of the Indian Head cent. Who knows what other nice coins might be inside this roll too!
The outside of the roll reads: "Wachovia Bank & Trust Co., 50 Pennies 50, Johnson Fare Box Co., Chicago 40." and also has some writing that the collector/dealer must have written on it as a note to their self.
We recently purchased several of these OBW rolls from a collection. It is very rare to find original bank wrapped rolls these days as it seems once someone finds one, they open it up to see what's inside. We've decided to risk not opening any up and see how they do on here. We'll leave it up to you to decide if you will open it and possibly find some rare coins or if you will hold onto it for many more years.
Please be sure to look at the detailed pictures above. You can use the zoom feature to examine and grade the coins and the arrows to flip through the pictures.
Pennies seem to be a good investment to make especially since 2009 pennies are now being designed differently to commemorate the 100-year design of the Lincoln penny and soon 2010 pennies will have a new design as well. If you have any questions or concerns about this item please contact us and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Good luck to you and happy bidding!!
