This is an antique ewer dating to the mid to late 1800s. It appears to be Wave Crest by C.F. Monroe Co., but the item is unmarked. The ewer has an ormolu base, handle and spout. The spout is adorned with the face of a cherub and the handle has a small head of a woman on it. The base has ornate scroll work in the ormolu. There is a pin that runs from the base to the spout that can be tightened. It has some rust on this pin. The ewer cannot be used to hold liquid, because it was made for decoration. However, it may be able to be used as the base to a lamp. The glass part is painted with pink and blue flowers. The background is a creamy white color. Some of the background on the glass is slightly yellowed with age, but it does not distract from the beauty of this ewer. I have 2 of these for sale.
