This pitcher or jug is in the shape of a duck. The exterior is unglazed painted pottery and the interior is glazed. There is a ring of brightly colored pink, purple and red flowers around the middle of the pitcher.
This pitcher has a small green discoloration near one corner of the duck's mouth (see photo.) There is also a bluish discoloration on the top, near the handle. There are a few scratches and smaller discolorations around the base. There are no cracks, chips or other damage that compromise the integrity of the piece. There is an area on one side that looks like it may have a small, shallow chip. However, this area has been painted over and it is difficult to tell if this is indeed a chip or just a flaw from the manufacturing process. The handpainted flowers are bright and unfaded.
This jug is from Mexico and is handpainted. It is marked on the bottom "Oaxaca Mexico." It is approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and 16 inches around at it's widest. The pitcher weighs about 1 3/4 pounds unpacked.
