This vintage Westmoreland Glass piece is a salt dish the looks like a hen sitting on a nest. The piece is made of frosted crystal. The hen has a split tail and her head is turned to the right. The base is basketweave with a scalloped rim. There are felted pads on the bottom to prevent damage.
This piece is in excellent condition with no damage that I can find anywhere.
The piece is marked on the bottom with the Westmoreland logo of a "W" superimposed over a "G". This mark dates the piece to between 1949 and 1981. There is also a foil sticker on the back of the hen which reads "Westmoreland Glass Hand Made."
The top of the piece measures approximately 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. The base measures appoximately 3 ½ inches long and 2 ½ inches wide. The set is approximately 3 ½ inches tall when together. The piece weighs just under ½ pound unpacked.
