The title "The Game For All Americans" was borrowed from Detroit Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell's classic essay that first appeared on the pages of The Sporting News in 1955. Wonderful book for the baseball enthusiast with fantastic photos on nearly every page. Covers many of the major and minor league teams along with baseball history and human interest. The book is used, but in newer condition.
The Game For All Americans was made possible with the generous assistance of Fuji Photo-Film U.S.A., Inc., and Major League Baseball which has assigned its royalities to the bseball Alumni Team, a nonprofit foundation operated by and dedicated to helping former major leaguers.
We are fans because the game appeals to our local pride, our pleasure in thinking of ourselves as, yes, Americans, but nonetheless different from residents of other towns, other states, other regions. This illuminates not only fans' interest in Little League and American League ball, but even in minor and major league teams.
This would make a wonderful gift for home or office_a very nice coffee table book. I have several more of these and will discount books and shipping if two or more are purchased at the same time.
