Robinia pseudoacacia 25 seeds BLACK LOCUST TREE White Wisteria-like FRESH SALE
Robinia pseudoacacia, 25 seeds
Black Locust is a deciduous tree which leafs out in early spring. Its alternate, pinnately compound leaves resemble sprigs of grapes. From late spring to early summer, Robinia pseudoacacia produces showy, drooping, 5-inch long clusters of white (not black as the common name would suggest!), fragrant, pea-like flowers. The effect is like that of a White Wisteria! In addition, this tree is a legume and its nitrogen-rich litter decomposes quickly, making nutrients available for surrounding plants' uptake. Hardy to zone 3. 50 feet tall, 30 feet wide. Full sun. Tolerant of salt and widely adaptable to all types of soil and all moisture levels. Fresh seeds, harvested 09/2009.
