1974 First Flight Covers (2) - DETROIT-NASHVILLE (AM-98)
Nice set of 2 First Flight Covers for the inauguration of service on Air Mail Route 98 from Detroit, Michigan, to Nashville, Tennessee.
Postmarked: 1) MC - DETROIT, MICH. - December 4, 1974
2) MC - U.S. POSTAL SERVICE MI 491 - December 4, 1974
Both covers carry a machine cancel backstamp of NASHVILLE, TN 372 - December 4, 1974
Cachet: Both covers have a rubber stamped design in the shape of a baggage tag. Each reads: "First Flight / Southern / Detroit, Michigan / AM98"
Condition: Generally clean, with a neatly typed address, but with some "ghosting" of the backstamp cancellation ink on the front of each cover. (Please see scans.)
