1967 US Navy Ship Cover - USS SYLVANIA (AFS-2) - Cacheted
Here's a very nice cacheted cover for the U.S. Navy ship U.S.S. Sylvania. As far as I know, it doesn't commemorate any specific event, although the cachet is left over from the ship's commissioning, more than 3 years earlier.
Postmarked: HC - U S S SYLVANIA (AFS-2) - December 4, 1967
Cachet: Circular purple rubber-stamped design featuring a large letter "S", three small ships, and a large troop-carrying helicopter. Text reads: "11 JULY 1964 / USS SYLVANIA / AFS-2 / COMMISSIONING DAY".
Condition: Very good, I'd say. Clean and neatly label addressed. (Please see scan.)
