This very popular hardy bamboo is used for screens and groves. A vigorous grower to 35' developing stems that are 1" thick. At maturity it will have very dark gray-green culms. It is called Water Bamboo because it has air canals in the rhizomes and roots which allow it to grow in wet soils where other bamboos would suffer.
It may be grown in zones 6b through 10.
Soak seeds for 24 hours in luke warm water. Mix the potting soil with 1/2 of red clay. Sow 1/4 inch deep a nd keep temperature at 70-80 degrees, Germination occurs between 4-8 weeks. The mortality rate of seedlings is high, so plant some more than you will need.
