These are wonderful in my garden, blooming summer through fall. The flowers have beautiful deep plum-crimson spurs surrounding a tall spike. Tall plants may need staking, but they bloom even if they fall over. Cut back flower stalks for repeat blooming. Hummingbids love the sweet nectar! They are reliable bloomers, and this variety is a little more drought tolerant than many Cardinal Flowers. They tend to be short lived, but do reproduce by division and will self-seed, giving you years of enjoyment. Very little care is needed for these eauties, they are very hardy.
