This dollhouse is absolutely a one of a kind. A stock dollhouse kit was used, and changed from Victorian to this classic Colonial design through the use of different details, so there's not another like it.
It is 23 inches wide by 12 deep, and 20 high- a size to fit on any end table or cabinet. It's all wood and MDF, no cardboard! It has a genuine asphalt shingle roof, working front door, and specially made wood plank front porch, with louvered shutters.
On the inside you have 4 rooms. The living room has a runner on the stairs and a wooden handrail on the wall. Beneath the staircase is a handpainted and 'aged' cabinet with handmade books, china plates, tiny pewter mugs and a birdhouse on a stand. The sofa was handmade and is signed on the bottom. The afghan and sofa pillows are also handstitched, as is the doily on the end table. The pictures on the walls are genuine photos reduced and framed. There is a wooden cabinet radio to listen to,lace curtains on rods, and plants, as well as a ceiling fan.
The bedroom has a handmade canopy and bedding, oriental fringed rug printed on cotton, leather cowboy boots by the chair, a toy train, high top shoes under the chest, and a handmade lamp on the chest. There's even a tiny Kleenex box on the nightstand!
The bathroom has hand hemmed towels, a 'braided' rug, a ceiling light fixture with a tiny chain pull, and a towel rack on the wall. All porcelain fixtures with a wooden toilet seat.
The kitchen has a pressed 'tin' ceiling, gingham curtains with lace trim, white appliances, high chair, kitchen table and chairs. There's a tiny crocheted hot pad hanging on the side of the range, sandwiches on the table, butter churn , crates of fruit, canisters and a coffee grinder, utensils and a spice rack hanging on the wall, and another 'braided' rug on the floor, a toaster, real copper pots and pans, and a 1950's calendar on the wall.
If you have ever priced doll house miniatures, you will know that the price on this house barely covers the materials-this is a great bargain, but I want to sell it and start another, bigger one!
